Visited Tokyo Table with the the office (13 people or so) for dinner. Reservations were made and upon arrival, we were seated in a little room that had a long table. Room felt very humid due to the lack of ventilation. Our server was quick to grab our drink orders, but was slow to bring them out. Mainly because she seemed to be the person making and serving the drinks. After a while, we placed our food orders and everything was brought out in good time. Our server did a really good job in checking in, so customer service was on point. Food was ok. I don't think Tokyo Table is a place I would return willingly, but it was definitely worth a visit.
First off, this place has my heart simply from its music. They had a good mix for modern jpop and throwbacks that had me vibing at the table. The food here was amazing as well. Don't order the rolls, you're missing out! Get the steak don or ochoko set instead to try something interesting. The steak bowl was so much better than I could've imagined. The steak was cooked to medium rare, so it was still soft and juicy. Then the sauce they added on top brought out the umami flavor even more. Even the rice was flavored fit for a king (my friend's words, not mine). The sauce and the rice balance each other out so you can enjoy every bite. One of our friends ordered someone else, but because it was so good when they tried ours, they ended up ordering a bowl for themselves. The ochoko set comes with 6 very small bowls that can be considered bite sized if you have a large bite. They're about the size of a fistful, but in a good way because then you'd be getting a good sample of each flavor. My favorites would be the garlic shrimp and sukiyaki bowls in the set. My friend thought the shrimp was a bit too salty, but I couldn't get enough. The sukiyaki bowl was so sweet and tender, I cleaned that bowl completely. I'm not a big fan of unagi, so it was okay for me. The remaining 3 bowls had very subtle flavors, so ask for extra eel sauce to mix in. The set is a good choice if you want a nice IG picture and to try a variety. If you want good food, order the steak bowl.
SUCH a good spot for dinner! I really liked the interior. It was spacious yet super intimate. Food: top notch! I enjoyed pretty much EVERYTHING. All the rolls were super good (especially the red dragon roll). I can't do AYCE sushi anymore, so this was absolutely perfect for me because I went with a group and got to try some of everything. I wouldn't get the cream cheese jalapeño wonton though. It was more like nacho cheese which I didn't love. Calamari wasn't the crispiest either, BUT overall, I loved it! Service was quick & the guy was really friendly. The only downside is the parking, but I got lucky today!
Food (4/5 stars): We tried Tokyo Table at Diamond Jamboree in Irvine. They have a wide variety of Japanese dishes and I went with the Chicken Katsu Curry. It was pretty good but didn't stand out. The katsu could've been bigger and crispier. I'd probably go for their sushi next time Experience (4/5 stars): * Price: a tad pricey * Wait Time: minimal on a Sunday night * Service: very good and friendly * Parking: there's a huge parking lot that can get busy * Ambiance: it's a nice, spacious restaurant
Cute late night spot for some sushi in Irvine. They were open late on a Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. Nicely decorated with lots of tables and TVs. Staff is attentive and friendly. Food was good, noise level was not loud like most places you go to and could barely hear what the person is saying. I liked that the tables were not so closed to each other. They have a large variety menu and a good alcohol selection too. We weren't that hungry so we decided to share a few items which was perfect. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the spicy tuna on crispy rice. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sauce was not overpowering. Located nearby the 85 Degree bakery and Meet Fresh section of this plaza. There was plenty of parking but this was at 9pm. Given that they stay open later, I may be coming back when I'm in the area.
